The first important thing you need if you want to do this seriously is an expendable email address. A lot of bargains are going to require you to sign up at websites, and unless you like filtering through lots of messages, it's necessary to have somewhere for all those emails to go that's not your usual personal email box.

Something else to keep in mind is that for some offers, you can sign up multiple times using multiple email addresses. It used to be a big pain to create separate accounts every time, but there is an email server, gmx.com, that allows you to set up one main email account and attach up to 10 other email addresses. Any mail sent to these new addresses will go to the default box, so you only have to check one place to get the email. And it's easy to delete the extra addresses and get new ones so you can get more offers.

To add email addresses, once you set up the main account and log in, click the "Settings" button on the upper-right. A small box will open. On the left-hand side of the box is a button that says "Add GMX E-Mail." Click that button. Under "Your E-Mail Addresses," click "Create New E-Mail Address." Enter any user name you like, and press "Check" to see if it is available. If it is, press "Create" and you're done! You may have to wait several moments and close/reopen Settings to see your new email address listed.

To delete email addresses, go back to "Settings," then "Add GMX E-Mail." Click on the address you would like to delete (do not delete the "Default Address" one) and then click "Delete." It may take several moments to process.
